02/05/04: "C" CATEGORY FINISHED WITHOUT GOOD RESULTS
In the 2004 my main goals were be the "C category" and the Avezzano tournaments...
The "C category" for me was a disaster....3 matches lost and only 1 won.
About the Avezzano team probably we will play the match to remain in "C category"
in September like the pass year.
for sure I had
a wrong preparation without any good match before to start the "C category"...
and also the athletic preparation was not so good....or maybe my phisic with
the age is going down. I really don't know at this point when and if the tiger will come back.
Live to know!!!!!
About the 2 tournament in Avezzano scheduled for the end of June and for the end
of July I don't know if I will partecipate because of my vacations just in those
period!!!!...Have I to change my vacation plan in order to play???...Maybe not!
Preparation Steps and "C category" matches:
02/05/2004
Last match in C category. We played in Chieti in the red ground. I played
against a D2 category 36 years old but I suppose in the pass he was a very
good tennis player. As usual in this year I didn't start to play well, but
in the first set I had the possibility to recover....anyway I lost the
first set 6-4....In the second set I was psicologically down and Ennio played
very well until 5-0....then maybe he was scared to win and he started to
do mistakes....I started to play well and like a miracle I won the second
set 7-5 and I was winning 2-0 in the third set...then an argument about 1
ball out or in I lost the concentration and lost the match 6-3.
Very crazy match...but also this time I was not so strong in the important
points or maybe not lucky at all.
Anyway we won 5-1 against Chieti and probably we will have to play in September
a decisive match to remain in "C category" like the pass year.

Third match in C category. We played in Vasto in the gras field indoor because
of a terrible weather all day. I played
against a tennis coach (D2 category). I started to play very bad...or maybe my
opponent didn't do any error...I was loosing 4-0 when I started to get out the
tiger inside me...and drive the match 5-4 and 1 set point. But the tennis is very
unpredictable and I lost the set and the match without any other chance.
For sure I'm understanding that my preparation was totally wrong...I miss some real
matches before to start the "serie C". I don't really know if my performances are
going down because of the age...but for sure the preparation is very important.
I lost also the match with Luigi 7-6 7-5 and also in this occasion we were not
lucky.

Second match in C category. We played in Carsoli in the gras field indoor. I played
against a C2 category and I had no chance. In the second set I could recover the
match because I was winning 3-1 but then I played not so good. My opponent
served very very good and made me a lot of aces!!!! Cristina, Ancuta
and Roxana were my fans, but I did a bad impression:-)))...Fisaically I was not
in form...I slept only 3 hours in the night and I was still under the effect of some alcool:-)))

Finally today we played the first match of the "C category" against L'Aquila.
My opponent was a young guy hitting all the balls in a powerful way...I played the
first set slowing down the rithm and this was a good strategy...in the second set
I was tired and nervous against my team because nobody supported me...then in the
last set Valerio gave me the motivation to win the match...3th set very good.
All the others Avezzano single players lost... 1-1 in the double without playing.

Today I played 1 set against Valerio, one player of the Avezzano team.
I played not so good but I won.

During my 3 days of vacation in sicily I had a good practise with Ramondetta, Tramontana,
Tabacco and Failla, my friends of Sortino tennis club. I lost with Antonio, the actual
number one in Sortino but in the tirth set he called me out some balls very suspicious!!!

After 3 weeks without playing and 1 week without gym today I played bad...expecially
my legs were slow and I didn't control well the catapult 3...today I known that
the "C category" will start the 28th of March, but I still don't know if I will
be in Grenoble or no.

Today I tried again the Catapult Volkl racket and I think that I will buy this one
(about 190 euro). I played well even if the opponents were not so hard. Today I
also tried the track-suite that the club will give us...very nice.

M.- Valeria (under 16) = 14-12
M.- Alberto (under 16) = 6-0 1-0

Today I tried the new Catapult Volkl racket and I think it is the best one.
I was very angry and I tried to be very aggressive but I played not
so good as I expected at the begin especially against Maura.
Here are the results:

After 1 months without any phisical activity (only 30 minutes runnig in La Manga beach and
1 day of gym), I come back to the tennis court. I played not so bad with the Volkl Tour
racket...I made few errors but maybe I was not so aggressive to win all the matches.
Anyway, positive prestation. Here are the results:

M.- Maura (under 16) = 1-2
M.- Alberto (under 16) = 6-1

This morning I played with mister Gianfranco (Over 60) in his tennis court in sintetic grass.
It was a good practise in any case. Here the result:

Today we had a little tournament with some premiums.
We were 8 players and each one played against
the others. I tried another racket (Volkl Tour).
I arrived second and I lost only against Enrico (B2, almost professional) but
I had 2 match point. My tennis now is more stable and I come back to play
like I know...few errors and run a lot to take all the balls. Very posisive prestations,
but I suffered a lot in some matches.

M.- Gianluca Togna (D2) = 11-3 (I lost with him last time)

Today I tried a new racket (Volkl Catapult) and the improvement was evident:
M.- Luigi (under 18)= 5-1 (last time with the old racket 3-4)
M.- Alberto (under 16)= 5-1 (last time 9-11 points)
M.- Maura (under 16)= 6-0 (last time 2-3)
I made few errors and I was more determinated and aggressive...phisically I see the
results of my gym activities.

Today I played very bad, I made a lot of trivial errors...I think it was because
of my head racket junior, not good at all...in fact I had to hit the ball very
hard and pay a lot of attenction to send the ball over the network.
The next Saturday I will try a new racket because off course I need to buy
a new one.

In Sortino (SR), Sicily...Central field.
M.- Tramontana Antonio = 4-6 5-7
After I left Sortino Tramontana began the number 1 of the little town...
but when I go there for vacation I like to play with him because we
have a very sane rivality... I tried to demonstrate that I'm still the
number 1 but I lost...for sure I need to play more to reach a good form...
this is what I learned:-)...the next time will be different!

Played about 1 hour on our club with Luigi (3-3), Alberto (3-1) and Valeria (3-1).
SAVE THE AVEZZANO TEAM TO REMAIN IN THE "C CATEGORY"
After the tournament of Avezzano valid for a regional D category gran prix,
where I lost the final with Gianluca Togna,...I will have about 2 months without
touch the racket. But we need to be ready for the middle of September when we
will have an important match valid for the "C" category tournament for teams.
We will play the match to remain in the "C" category...if we will lose
this match (we still don't know who is the opponent), we will go down in the
"D" category.
So, after we come back from the summer vacations, at the end of August, we
have to work hard and practise tennis as much as possible to be ready and in
form for the great apointment....but I will try to practise some sport also
during the vacation just to facilitate the come back to the tennis court.
